It's a brilliant game.

It’s a brilliant game

It’s a stupid game

How can you say that? It’s traditional, it’s part of English history

That doesn’t mean it’s good.

But it is good! There is a lot of skill involved, the bowlers and the batsmen have to practice for years and years to be really good.

It’s boring. Nothing happens. It is too slow. All the fielders just stand around waiting for something to do.

Nonsense , it’s a tactical game, the positioning of the fielders is really important to stop the batsman from playing his shots and force him into a mistake.

It is still boring to watch. A single test match takes five days, five days! Who has the time to watch a game for five days?

Oh I think that’s one of the great things about it!  I love it, long warm summer days, sitting in the pavilion with a long cold drink, watching the game . it is very relaxing.

Warn summer days? It usually rains!

Well ok sometimes it rains, but only in this country. In other countries the weather is much better

Where else do they play it then?

Well Australia of course, and  the West Wndies, and South Africa, and you know it’s really popular in India…and Pakistan. It is more popular than football!

Well I think it is a silly game, and I don’t understand the rules.

Yeah it does seem to be a bit complicated at first, but you soon pick it up.

But I don’t want to pick it up.

Well, what games do you like then?

I don’t know…baseball?

Baseball?   But that’s a rubbish game

No it’s not it’s a brilliant game
