In 1966 I got my first job. I was eighteen. I worked from nine in the morning until eight at night in a fashion shop in Carnaby street, London. It was a really long day, but a lot of fun. I only made six pounds a week, but it was enough because I lived at home with my mum and dad. I met my Husband, John, in the shop. He came in to buy some orange trousers. He looked really silly in them but he was really funny and so when he asked me for a date, I said yes. We went dancing at the Roxy, a nightclub near my home. It was great.
