The Weather Report

It is often said that the British are obsessed by the weather. Probably because in Britain the weather changes all the time!

Look at the weather icons on the right. do you know how to say these things in English?

Before you listen think about which word below goes with which icon.

Sunny, Cloudy, Stormy, Rain, Showers, Heavy snow, Strong winds, Changable.

 

What about the other icons, how would you describe them?

Listen to the recording of a typical weather report that you might hear on a radio in Britain and decide if the statements below are true or false.

And finally the weather. Tonight will be cool and cloudy in most parts of the country with some light showers in the North. The temperature will be cool, around 11 degrees.

The wind will get stronger overnight bringing a fresh bright morning, clear skies and a hot sunny day all over.  Temperatures in the south  will hit 23 degrees in the early afternoon , but lower in the North, around 20 degrees.

The temperature will cool off in the early evening, dropping to around 15% but still clear and warm, so, a  good day for an evening barbeque. That’s all. Good night.
